The 80s really was an amazing time with regards to fashion, movies, tv shows and music. It was a fresh, groovy, vibrantly colourful era. The iconic things that belong to the 80s are hair crimping, Koosh Balls, Jelly shoes, Parachute pants, Slap Bracelets, Leg warmers, mullets, yo yos, walkman, Rubiks cube and ghetto blasters. The downsides being aids taking over the world and a lot of cocaine. But this era really stands out.

Here are a few movies you can get nostalgic over the 80s or watch them if you've missed them out. This list consists of movies have romance, drama, action & humour all released in the iconic 80s.

1. A Room with a View (1985)

This Romance movie was based of from the book with the same name by E.M. Forster and it is one of the best books I've read. 
Lucy Honeychurch, a young Englishwoman, is touring Italy with her older cousin. At a hotel in Florence, Lucy meets the charming and free-spirited George Emerson. Although intrigued by George, once she's back in England Lucy ponders settling down with the wealthy, staid Cecil Vyse. When George reappears in her life, Lucy must decide between him and Cecil. ---But there is so much more to this story.

2. Sixteen Candles (1984)


This movie starts with the occasion all but overshadowed by her sister's upcoming wedding, angst-ridden Samantha (Molly Ringwald) faces her 16th birthday with typical adolescent dread. Samantha pines for studly older boy Jake (Michael Schoeffling), but worries that her chastity will be a turnoff for the popular senior. Meanwhile, Samantha must constantly rebuff the affections of nerdy Ted (Anthony Michael Hall), the only boy in the school, unfortunately, who seems to take an interest in her.

3. The Princess Bride (1987)


Based on a book of the same name a classic tale of love and adventure as the beautiful Buttercup, engaged to the odious Prince Humperdinck, is kidnapped and held against her will in order to start a war, It is up to Westley  to save her. They meet a lot of interesting characters on this journey.

4. The Gods Must be Crazy 1 & 2 (1980 & 1989)


Movie starts with the tribal people in a remote African desert live a happy life, but it is all torn to pieces when a Coca-Cola bottle falls from a plane. With the villagers fighting over the strange foreign object, tribal leader Xi (N!xau) decides to take the bottle back to the gods to restore peace. His journey to the "end of the world" eventually has him crossing paths with a bumbling scientist (Marius Weyers) and a band of guerrillas who take a schoolteacher (Sandra Prinsloo) and her class hostage.

5. Footloose (1984)


Movie begins with newcomer Ren McCormack (Kevin Bacon) moving in from Chicago, is in shock when he discovers the small Midwestern town he now calls home has made dancing and rock music illegal. As he struggles to fit in, Ren faces an uphill battle to change things. With the help of his new friend, Willard Hewitt (Christopher Penn), and defiant teen Ariel Moore (Lori Singer), he might loosen up this conservative town. But Ariel's influential father, Reverend Shaw Moore (John Lithgow), stands in the way.

6. The Breakfast Club (1985)


This movie is about 5 high school students from different walks of life endure a Saturday detention under a power-hungry principal (Paul Gleason). The disparate group includes rebel John (Judd Nelson), princess Claire (Molly Ringwald), outcast Allison (Ally Sheedy), brainy Brian (Anthony Michael Hall) and Andrew (Emilio Estevez), the jock. Each has a chance to tell his or her story, making the others see them a little differently -- and when the day ends, they question whether school will ever be the same.

7. Dirty Dancing (1987)


The movie is about Baby (Jennifer Grey) is one listless summer away from the Peace Corps. Hoping to enjoy her youth while it lasts, she's disappointed when her summer plans deposit her at a sleepy resort in the Catskills with her parents. Her luck turns around, however, when the resort's dance instructor, Johnny (Patrick Swayze), enlists Baby as his new partner, and the two fall in love. 8. E.T. (1982)



After a gentle alien becomes stranded on Earth, the being is discovered and befriended by a young boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas).
